Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how karenlee uses cookies and similar technologies on this website. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. "Similar technologies" include localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, web beacons and pixel tags. We refer to all of these collectively as "cookies" in this Policy.
2. What we use, and why
This website is intentionally lean. We do not use third-party advertising, retargeting, or behavioural analytics cookies. We use only the following:
- Essential — theme preference. A
localStorageentry calledkarenlee-themeremembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. Lifetime: until you clear your browser storage. Purpose: site functionality. - Essential — cookie banner acknowledgment. A
localStorageentry calledkarenlee-cookie-ackrecords that you have seen the cookie banner so it is not shown on every page. Lifetime: until you clear your browser storage. Purpose: compliance. - Strictly necessary — Firebase Hosting. Our hosting provider may set short-lived technical cookies for load balancing and security. These are first-party, do not contain personal data, and cannot be disabled without breaking the site.
3. What we don't use
- Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight or any other behavioural tracker;
- Advertising or remarketing cookies;
- Third-party social embeds that set cookies on load;
- Cross-site session cookies.
Because the website does not use behavioural cookies, we do not show a granular consent banner. The cookie banner you see is informational and confirms you have read this Policy.
4. Cookies in our applications
Native applications we publish on the App Store do not use HTTP cookies. They may use Apple-provided system services (CloudKit, Keychain, Sign in with Apple, App Tracking Transparency). These are described in each application's privacy nutrition label and in our Privacy Policy.
5. How to manage cookies
You can delete cookies and localStorage entries at any time through your browser's settings. Doing so will reset your theme to the system default and re-display the cookie banner. Browser-specific instructions:
- Safari (macOS / iOS): Safari → Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
6. Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control
This website honours Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals where transmitted by your browser. Because we do not run third-party analytics or advertising, those signals do not change site behaviour beyond confirming our existing defaults.
7. Changes
We will update this Policy if our cookie usage changes. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent change. For substantive changes we will display a notice on the homepage.
